The one and only time a mud puddle has been seen throughout this rainy-day chapter, it's placed directly below June so she can fall into it. It's not lazy art, it's karma!

June's face looks horrifying on the second panel. Even Cordelia seems worried. Randall, not so much. Really nice perspective shot, though.

Sympathy score = 0

Reply melaredblu, August 7th, 2013, 10:50 pm

@Hjels: Randall isn't really into that whole "giving a darn" thing.
And thanks, I figured a birds-eye view shot would be cool here.

Reply melaredblu, August 7th, 2013, 10:51 pm

@vaslittlecrow: Sympathy? What's that? Is that a fancy way of spelling schadenfreude?

Reply vaslittlecrow, August 8th, 2013, 5:20 am

@melaredblu: I think that would be accurate.

Is this a deconstruction? I would be extremely pleased. About the story, of course. Not the current development with June.

Goddammit. I'm up to date. Now I gotta wait.

At this point, it's safe to say you can count me in, Sarah. I always knew you were capable of a compelling story, and this did not disappoint. I'm well hooked and will be looking forward to future updates like a fanboy.

@chicken-blast: Wow, many comments...and faving...I could just...*sniffle*
Thanks, man. I'm so glad you like it. This seriously made my day!

Gurl. I almost spat out my coffee when I saw your comic only had some 20 fans. That's some sort of universal injustice or something. You deserve every single fave you've gotten.

And I expect more badassery. See that? High expectation. You've established in me some high expectation.

Reply melaredblu, August 8th, 2013, 5:06 pm

@chicken-blast: Well, I never expected popularity. I'm just incredibly grateful for the fans I do have, especially those who comment.
I'll do my best to meet those expectations! Next chapter has some interesting developments in store and I look forward to hearing your honest opinion.

Bird's eye view is perfect for a number of reasons.
It makes the characters more powerless (you view from below to make them look more powerful), it gets everyone into the panel while still focusing all the attention on June, it looks like it's from whoever zapped her's point of view, and I still like the Oxford comma.

Reply melaredblu, August 13th, 2013, 12:04 am

@groovykinda: The Oxford comma is intuitive, useful, and makes my sentences feel complete.
And thanks for the feedback. Bird's-eye shot are always a little difficult to do, but I think this was definitely the ideal angle here. That darn rain, though. Grr.

"That darn rain?" You're kidding, right? The rain just focuses everything on June even more.
You might try a few drops that don't start outside the circle.Either way, it looks great!

Reply melaredblu, August 13th, 2013, 3:07 am

@groovykinda: Ah, no, I meant the rain was hard to do. I actually like the effect of it converging on her, but it took FOREVER.

I like your suggestion of having some drops originate inside the panel, though. If I get time, I'll add a few.
