It's kind of a universal rule that a Magical Girl's transformation tool will always work. Except in this webcomic.

Okay, if I'm reading this right, the transformation didn't work, and April wants to try next.
The color by numbers was brilliant, even if it did take me out of the comic. Now I want to color it at home.

@GroovyKinda: You're reading it right, except it's May that wants to try next. April is the one casually prodding the now-useless necklace.
That middle panel was originally just going to be greyscale, but I decided to take a more...outlandish route, which might have mixed results.

PAINT BY NUMBERS! oh my god I want to do it. Oddly enough I like the shadows on the bow and frills in the last panel

Reply GroovyKinda, November 20th, 2013, 10:53 pm

@schlissel: I did. It's pretty trippy.

Reply melaredblu, November 20th, 2013, 11:27 pm

@schlissel: You're welcome to it if you like. And I appreciate the comment about the shadows. I've been trying out new shading styles, but I still haven't quite decided on one.

@GroovyKinda: You actually colored it in? I'd love to see it!

I keep forgetting that you bill your comic as "A magical girl parody". I keep getting caught up in the story, and plot twists like this catch me flat-footed and off balance. The reactions in the third panel are also comedy gold especially May's adorable cluelessness. It's as if she got lost in Candyland years ago, and never found her way out. And I especially love June's dramatic hair in panels one and two compared to her hair in panel three--priceless.

I like how none of your characters seem to be able to catch a break. Most stories like this has a single character who's the butt of the narrator's jokes. I like the unpredictability of PC. :)

@Delta-v: I love a good plot twist and throwing a screwball at the audience here and there. More the better if I can find some way to make fun of the genre while I'm at it. And yeah, May's too cute for her own good, but people seem to like her for it.

@Hjels: In June's case, it's mostly just karma coming to collect, but as a writer, I've always had a penchant for humiliating and thwarting my characters. If Sonny was real, he'd call me a griefer.

Has anyone done the color by number, yet? I think I'm going to do it lol.

Reply melaredblu, November 22nd, 2013, 6:00 pm

@JWCraig: You're welcome to it. If anyone does color and send it to me, I'll probably post the results and a shout-out to the colorist on Facebook.

Something just occurred to me: is the gang headed to a magical fairyland, a la Fushigi Yugi?

Reply melaredblu, November 26th, 2013, 9:29 pm

@GroovyKinda: I've, ah, never actually seen that show, so I'm not sure what you mean.
