Somebody's in for an imminent hazing. Three guesses as to who, and the first two don't count.

@melaredblu: I would think a page is a step down from plumber. The pay isn't as good, and it looks like there's a lot more rules.
Plus, the hazing.

You opened up your word balloons! Looks great!

@GroovyKinda: I learned from the best!

I'm guessing Leopold doesn't have a choice in the matter, does he?

Reply melaredblu, March 19th, 2014, 6:02 pm

@NitztheBloody: Does he ever? That's why he's a plumber; one way or another, he always has to put up with a bunch of crap.

I really like the facial expressions. That is something that definitely has improved in your art. So many emotions conveyed on this page. Chroma's, the King's... And Leopold manages to look handsome and deep in trouble at the same time!

Reply melaredblu, March 20th, 2014, 4:46 pm

@Hipopotamo: The trouble has only just begun for him, too. It'll get worse before it ges better. And then June will come along and things will get worse than he ever imagined.

Let's see, Leopold is a member of the Winged Folk, and as such, a magic user, and those two plan to harass him. I believe the traditional reward for such behavior is toadhood. Any chance of webby toes, or perhaps a few warts?

And I just noticed that his eyes are blue, also. See what I mean by me not being all that observant?

Reply melaredblu, March 20th, 2014, 10:35 pm

@Delta-v: They're pretty brash, picking on the immortal guy. Then again, they're also eavesdropping on the king. Nothing is sacred with those two.
To be fair, his bangs dominate his face, so his eyes are hardly the focal point. Get a haircut, hippie!

@melaredblu: Don't the wings get in the way when he's fixing under-the-sink drains?
I would think any self-respecting king has a collection of eavesdropping guard's heads somewhere. Something to show the new recruits.
Hey, what's with the shadows going in opposite directions from the desk in panel 5?

Reply melaredblu, March 22nd, 2014, 5:49 pm

@GroovyKinda: Of course they do, but he's lived long enough to learn to work around it.
The shadows are there because I thought they were dramatic, but in retrospect, solid black was probably the wrong way to go.

Reply GroovyKinda, March 23rd, 2014, 4:37 pm

@melaredblu: Solid black is okay. It's just that they go in two opposite directions. It looks like the desk is the light source.

Reply Hjels, March 23rd, 2014, 5:00 pm

@GroovyKinda: Yup, I see a merciless hazing regime in Leo's future. Those two don't look like the kind to let him off easy.

Reply melaredblu, March 24th, 2014, 3:47 pm

@GroovyKinda: There's a floor lamp right next to his desk, actually, so there's a light source there. It's just that the lamp is...kinda covered by the word bubble. And also not nearly bright enough to cast such strong shadows.
Yeah. I messed up.

Reply GroovyKinda, March 25th, 2014, 9:29 am

@melaredblu: If you wanted to fix it, just leave the king's shadow.
If they really had that shadow, that side of the desk would be dark too.

On the other hand, if the King's Chambers was being infiltrated by a shadowy creature, it would disguise itself as a shadow...
Well played, melaredblu, well played.

I love Leopold's outfit here. Orange is a nice color on him!
