Try saying Mnemosynite three times fast. It can't be done. IT CAN'T BE DONE.

To go along with this page, I have a special surprise to share with you--a crossover fanfiction written by the author of M9Girls! Inspired by Any's recent cameo, this story follows her into Elysium of the past and her encounter with the Monochromes in her world. The story is non-canon, but it's so close to canon it's almost scary. To celebrate, I also made some fanart for the story, so check that out too!

@melaredblu: Cute backgrounds in panels one and two. Especially the question marks.
I love how you draw Princess Chroma, especially now that we can see her eyes. And does that say "Royal Flush" on Leopold's shirt?

Reply Hjels, March 27th, 2014, 6:16 am

Man, Leopold is such a great guy. I feel worse and worse for him with every page of this. Loved your take on the M9 Girls too.

Brunswick's pensive expression is given added force by his eyes. There's nothing like glowing eyes to add mystery.

Some things about Chroma remind me of May, especially her innocence and taste in clothing.

And I love the way Chroma's hair emotes with her like Cordellia's chicken hat does.

Reply melaredblu, March 27th, 2014, 4:16 pm

@GroovyKinda: Yup, his shirt does say Royal Flush. It's hard to read, though. I probably should have made the letters larger.

Reply melaredblu, March 27th, 2014, 4:17 pm

@Hjels: Thanks, I enjoyed drawing the Girls!
Leopold is a prime case of "nice guys finish last" here, but at least Chroma appreciates him.

@Delta-v: What could Brunswick be thinking...?

She's very May-like, that's for sure. There's a reason he initially assumed May was supposed to be Princess Chroma.

Drooling with glee at the fan-art. It's gorgeous. And you know I loved creating the little story. It is also close-to-canon for the Girls.

Man, poor Leopold if he is immortal and stuck as a plumber, though he seems to be good at magic (which of course didn't help him much in the end!)
The little hidden details were pretty cool!

@Hipopotamo: Crossovers are such a beautiful thing. I really enjoyed being a part of it!
Leopold actually likes his job; plumbing pays well, after all. Pagehood, not so much, but nobody said he had to quit his dayjob.

I definitely need to get caught up on the M9 Girls crossover fic, since I was so impressed with your Juventas story. Still, this is a nice page, with a particularly impressively-colored Chekov's Mnemosynite.

@NitztheBloody: Be sure to send some love Hipopotamo's way when you do read it; he's the one who wrote the story!

Magical Girls almost always heavily depend on the use of a magical trinket. It kind of baffles me how little it usually matters to the plot what the trinket actually is. Princess Tutu and Madoka Magica are the only two exceptions I can think of off the top of my head.

Sorry Sorry I've been away for so long. I've got a lot of catching up to do! Still haven't mastered time management with class, domestic duty, and my own comics. Cool to see Leopold again. Now the start reading where I left off.

Reply GroovyKinda, March 30th, 2014, 11:43 pm

And don't think we don't notice how her hair mimics the wallpaper. Especially in panel two.

Reply melaredblu, March 30th, 2014, 11:57 pm

@Jessie W Craig: There's no need to apologize! The comic is there for you to enjoy, so please, read it at your leisure. And good luck with your many obligations. If what I've seen on Facebook is any indication, it seems you've been very busy these days.

Reply melaredblu, March 30th, 2014, 11:58 pm

@GroovyKinda: I can't decide if her hair curling into an actual question mark is parodying Expressive Hair or just a plain old visual gag, but as long as it's funny, I'm going to keep on doing it.

Reply Cave, April 1st, 2014, 7:27 pm

Yay I'm finally caught up. Can't wait for more!

Reply GroovyKinda, April 2nd, 2014, 1:11 pm

@melaredblu: Remember, moderation in all things.
The question mark is clever and funny, but when you start doing starfish wallpaper...

Reply melaredblu, April 2nd, 2014, 5:45 pm

@Cave: I'm glad you enjoy the story! Thank you for reading.

Reply melaredblu, April 2nd, 2014, 5:46 pm

@GroovyKinda: Don't worry, even Chroma's hair isn't flexible enough to turn into a starfish. Besides, that wouldn't be as funny.
