I Have No Fingers and I Must Cling

The real threat here is the lack of basic safety features on the central vac. Would it kill you to conjure up some seat belts, Cordelia?

I forgot just how sick and tired I got of drawing spiderwebs back in chapter three. So why did I go back to making these monstrous things? I don't know either.

Oh, wow, a nod to Harlan Ellison--that was cool.

An interesting ethical conundrum. Leopold is probably still unable to fly (no wings apparent), so it's up to June to rescue someone she dislikes. Will she rise to the challenge, or remain true to her old behavior. It's a twist I didn't see coming--kudos for cleverness.

And your spiderwebs have improved, along with everything else.

@Delta-v: Given the sad lack of safety features on this ride, a situation like this is pretty much inevitable.

I'm sure Leopold will be just fine, and escape without so much as a scratch or a bump on the head.
Ha-ha, no, seriously, he'll be okay eventually.
Unhurt? No way.
I bet he falls off, June yells: "Spiders!," and then May will say: "Wow! you're good at this!" and spiders will show up.
I think you know how epic panel three is, melaredblu. It's wonderful. The spiderwebs look like scratchboard.
Panel 5 was confusing. Is that Leopold's hand?

....are those spider eggs? This isn't going to end well

Yeesh. Your spiderwebs are beautifully rendered, but now my arachnophobia's kicking in.

You know, Cordelia should really invest in some seatbelts for her flying vacuum cleaner. The lack of fingers surely has a lot to do with it, but it's fortunate that Spiders is the only one who's lost his footing!

Yeesh. Some people just can't catch a break. I'd like to applaud the expressions on this page. Really well done, especially Leo's look of terror on the last panel.

@GroovyKinda: It is his hand. Maybe that panel in't really necessary, though.

@NitztheBloody: Wait till the spiderlings start ballooning.

Reply melaredblu, July 3rd, 2014, 8:12 pm

@Charil: Well to be fair, she wanted it to be a shop vac in the first place. Everyone knows shop vacs are much safer to fly through massive spiderweb traps.

@Hjels: It seems the heavy shadows work well in my favor for that shot. I'm actually pretty happy with how it turned out.

@melaredblu: No, it works. Especially for the rhythm of the story.
If you had drawn fingers, or some dividing lines, it would have been clearer. Or, if I was more perceptive...

@melaredblu: Baby spiders? With balloons?
That can only mean one thing: Fun!
