One last load of cameos for this chapter! We have Vael from Kyria, Jane from I, Mummy, Terry from Blitz Phoenix, and Princess Hana from Princess Retribution hanging out in the convention crowd. And if you look baby's bib, you'll also see Goomba from Bowser Baddie Revolution.

The Many Faces of Princess Chroma
@melaredblu: This is such a sweet page. That first one (with the crosses in her hair, no less) has a very 1940's feel to it.
is she washing bedpans? and kissing poor confused babies
I love the colors in the montage, with the subtle shadings I had to look twice to see (no, not a contrast problem).

@GroovyKinda: Her outfit in the top panel is a Candy Striper jumper. I'm glad you like the tinting. I wanted to invoke a sense of passig time, but not go full sepia.

@schlissel: Yep, those are bedpans. Hey, somebody has to do it.

@Delta-v: Poor Terry. He's even more abused than my cast and I wanted to make him look happy for once.

This propaganda machine strikes me as a thoroughly elaborate means of enabling Chroma's poor decisions, however innocently intended they may be. Then again, having a magical girl figurehead is a boon for Elysium, at least in the short term (June is feeling the consequences in the long term).

@NitztheBloody: Oh, the story will go into the consequences, but regardless, only Chroma's magic will get the job done. In the meantime, it wouldn't exactly help matters if everyone knew the truth and feared and hated her for it.
I think you've managed to tap into how the best suspense writers compose their stories. Divide the action into two, and stick with one arc just long enough for the reader to care only about group 1, then switch to group 2, and build up their arc, until they now desperately want to know what happens there instead.
A cameo from my comic?! YOU'RE THE BEST :D

@Hjels: Don't mind me, I'm just measuring the increased circumference of my head over here.

@JDPftw: Consider the cameo my way of offering a little "thank you" for all the support. Plus, I always love Bullet Bill-related hijinks.

I'm with Hjels. While I really want to see how Cordelia's gang is getting on, I'm loving this storyline.

@GroovyKinda: Have I mentioned you are all the best readers a person could ever wish for? Seriously though, I'll just have to keep working hard to meet your expectations. I'm glad people like this story!

Everyone else has said this already, but this is a super-interesting spin on the magical girl genre, and I'm really interested to see how this back story is going to effect present events with June. For example, whether or not she will be able to use black magic...
Reply melaredblu, December 13th, 2014, 9:57 pm
@ErinfromDEGAF: Knowing June, she'd probably prefer the black magic.
