Grave Neglect

In Elysium, they put feathers over graves instead of flowers. Feathers symbolize eternal life, profound magic, and epic pillow fights.

What a cheerful page to put up right after Christmas.
Oh well. Happy Boxing Day!

I really love the way you painted the sky in this paint. Also, color me intrigued as to how this is all going to lead to present day events...

cool gravestones, the sky looks pretty too

@ErinfromDEGAF: Don't worry, the next page will tie it all together...or will it?

Reply melaredblu, December 26th, 2014, 7:39 pm

@schlissel: The graves' designs are inspired by the ones from Journey (really beautiful game, too. Well worth checking out).

I knew I'd seen those tomb stones before. I just couldn't place them. They look great in this setting though. And, I suppose it's the grave of Brunswick, right? Love how ominous that possibility turns this entire page. And sad.

I have no idea when this is and I can't wait to find out.

@Hjels: There are few sadder sights than a forgotten grave...thankfully, somebody seems to remember him.

@NitztheBloody: Come this Wednesday, you'll have a pretty good idea of the time placement, I think.

@melaredblu: Judging by the talk, that's Brunswick's grave. And Chroma is probably buried nearby.
The speech and bloody feather makes me think that that's Leopold. Even if putting a feather on the grave is regular practice in Elysium, he's the kind of guy who's not afraid of a little manual labor.
There's something different about this page. The colors seem clearer somehow. Did you change the way you color or do your blacks?

Reply melaredblu, December 28th, 2014, 12:02 am

@GroovyKinda: The feather isn't meant to be bloody, it just has a russet tip. As for the colors, I upped the saturation to bring out the oranges. That might be what you're seeing here.
