And with that, the year ends and so does this chapter. Come back next year when a new chapter begins and we return to the present where things are...uh...still pretty bleak, actually.

Does being knocked unconscious count? That adds a couple.

So that's what the head monochrome looks like in the light. Impressive dramatic action pose, by the way

Man, what an ending to a chapter! And it looks like Ms. Historian is something of a crusader--just what Leopold needs to make his life complete.

yay more bleakness to come xD aww she looks cute in the first panel

@Delta-v: June's such a slacker.
This isn't the first time we've seen The Shade in full light, but at least he's wearing clothes this time.

@schlissel: I tried to make her look all purty. I bet she uses L'Oreal on her hair, too.

And this raises even further questions! As well as showing a future where all the whimsy of a Magical Girl Adventure was eradicated. Hopefully June will fare better.

@NitztheBloody: She's not off to a good start so far, but hey, at least she's not dead!

I wonder what June's new years resolutions are? Maybe to not get knocked unconscious?

Reply melaredblu, January 1st, 2015, 2:36 pm

@JDPftw: That would probably be a good one for her.

I thought for a minute that the woman at the grave was Queen Juno, but her being the Historian from the beginning of the chapter makes sense. I'm trying to wrap my head around it though. I think there are three people in total who have had green hair. Juno, Ms. Historian and Chroma.

Family ties between them, coincidence, or the style in upper circles in the realm? Never mind about thatm though.

This page just punctuates how far you've come. The sky, the models, the textures and the effects.

Dødsbra, as we say over here.

@Hjels: I got a tablet recently, so I'm hoping my art will improve even further in the future, hopefully by the next time we check in with our green-haired historian.

@melaredblu: Ah, "The Shade". I knew the thing had a name (Or at least a descriptor) but I could neither remember it nor find it. Thank you!

Even commenters can benefit from constructive criticism.

@Delta-v: I can't say that I blame you, though. The Shade's presence hasn't been terribly strong in this comic.
Allow me to remedy that in the coming chapters.

This is such an amazing page, melaredblu.
I had forgotten the Historian from the beginning of the chapter (I need to binge-read more). What a beautiful opening.
She wraps up the story and reminds us that it's in the past. That colors (no pun intended) the next two panels. We're seeing it all through the prism of time here.
And then that lonely figure standing guard over Chroma's memory. Poor Leopold-hot headed, impulsive, judgemental, incredibly unlucky, but never stopping in his attempts to do the right thing and protect others.
Then finishing up with that nasty little imp. Remindg us of the dangers always lurking about, waiting for their chance to return and wreak havoc.

@GroovyKinda: Hopefully I've managed to tie things together at this point. There's been a lot of backstory in the past few chapters, but it's time to get going in the present again.
